Free Software

Library Solutions (V1)We released version 1 of ‘Library Solutions’ in May 2003 and after some frustratingly low sales we reduced the price… then, at the ending of 2008, we decided to offer it as a Free download.
It’s amazing how free software provokes the otherwise, slow to come forward, but it did and in a year we received over 2000 downloads for a database offered to a small sector.

We knew it was a good off-the-shelf product and our site stats proved it.
We wanted to offer it free for those who struggled to find the finance but also to showcase our services… a type of (try before you buy) one of our products or bespoke services.
Admittedly, we are not sure how many of those downloads came from those who genuinely managed libraries as opposed to our industry contemporaries who wanted to do some snooping.

We can say that we have now satisfied our benevolent tendencies but those tendencies do not pay the bills.
Last month marked the end of our ‘Freebie’ era, in the future, we aim to continue to offer quality software but in order to stay in business we will obviously have to continue to charge…tough for some to accept, but hey, we have to live to…

About Base 1 Solutions Limited Software

Base 1 Solutions Limited was established in November 1998 by husband and wife team Phil & Lois Gayle.
Over 11 years of providing IT services ranging from Database development to PC and Network hardware and software support as well as PC builds, has enabled us to provide a service for both Private and business clientèle.

Small businesses with limited funds for marketing and advertising need all the help they can get to promote and advertise their products and services.
This BLOG has been published to assist us at Base 1 Solutions Limited with our promotion and advertising of our database software and database development services.

We have been developing database solutions using Access since version ‘95 and after developing software for all sectors (including churches and charities) we have now decided to streamline our services and products.

Using the latest version of the Microsoft Access database as well as SQL Server and MySQL, our services and products will now be focused on Small and Medium Sized businesses only, in both the UK and (for now) all English speaking international customers.
This BLOG, Our Twitter account and our new web site (to be published in mid December) mark a kind of relaunch of our business services.

It’s the next phase of our business journey and we would like to go on this journey with as many other SMEs as possible…
